“Power Hour” - Homework help & tutoring program held Monday-Friday from 2:30 - 4:45 PM. Earn points for prizes & trips by doing homework & educational work. Pizza party monthly for those who attend 10 times. Kiwanis Reading Program - Mondays at 6:30 PM - Improve your reading skills and have fun with members of the Kiwanis Club and OFA Key Club. Diversity Festivals - First Friday night of every month - food, music, games, costume contest, and more 6:00 - 9:00 PM. OBGC Service Club - Service Club for ages 11-18… members will take part in service projects around the community as well for the Boys & Girls Club… meetings every two weeks on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 PM. Money Matters Program - This is a program for children in grades 7 and over to learn the background information on check-writing, learning the values of saving and investing and much more featuring financial services.
SMART Girls - SMART Girls is a small - group health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls ages 8-12 and 13-17. Through dynamic sessions, highly participatory activities, field trips and mentoring opportunities with adult women, Club girls explore their own and societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
Passport to Manhood - Passport to Manhood promotes and teaches responsibility in Club boys ages 11-14. Passport to Manhood consists of 14 sessions, each of which concentrates on specific aspect of manhood through highly interactive activities. Each club participant receives his own “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth. Passport to Manhood represents a targeted effort to engage young boys in discussions and activities that reinforce positive behavior. SMART Moves - This nationally acclaimed comprehensive prevention program helps young people resist alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, as well as premature sexual activity. SMART Moves features engaging, interactive, small-group activities that increase participants’ peer support, enhance their life skills, build their resiliency and strengthen their leadership skills. This year round program encourages collaborations among Club staff, youth, parents and representatives from other community organizations.
Healthy Snack After School Program will be offered on Tuesdays & Thursdays to encourage youth of all ages to eat healthy foods. “Youth for Unity” - will be held every Thursday and Saturday evening. The program is for members ages 6 - 9 years old and is part of the OBGC commitment to help members learn about and celebrate the differences in everyone. Jr. Staff Member Amanda Main is the instructor for the program. Price Chopper’s Golub Foundation Snack Program - will be offering healthy after school snacks on Mondays & Wednesday to encourage youth of all ages to eat healthy foods. The Golub Foundation was established in 1981 in an effort to enhance and improve the quality of life within Price Chopper communities. Fitness Night Program - Starts January 10th and will be held every Thursday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 PM under the direction of OFA Assistant Football Coach Satch Sawyer. The program’s aim is to help develop core balance, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. Activities will include stretching, plyometrics, conditioning and other developmental activities.
